The consultation on the new Fishery Order for the eastern Menai Strait begins today, Thursday 8th April 2021.  This consultation is open to anyone with an interest in the area for the next month, ending on 8th May 2021.

To raise awareness of this consultation we have posted notices along the shore in Gwynedd and Anglesey, and adverts in the Daily Post, Western Mail and Fishing News.  We’re also mailing letters about the consultation to 50 individuals and organisations, and sending out over 120 e-mails announcing the consultation today.

The proposed new Fishery Order is designed to be an update of the old 1962 Order which is due to expire next year.  It is very much a “like for like” replacement.  For the shellfish farmers in the Menai Strait this new Order is vital for their future success.  For everyone else it will be “business as usual”.

Information about the new Fishery Order is published on our website here/yma, with details on how you can participate in the consultation.  The text of the new Order itself can be downloaded here/yma.
